We will post materials here that will help you get the most from the Volcanoes Top Trumps cards. We’ve tried to tailor it to some of the learning outcomes at Primary and Secondary school but hope that some of this information will just be fun to learn, regardless of learning stage or agenda! Don’t forget to look at all of the ‘pull down’ menus to find out more about volcano stats, volcanoes and plate tectonics, and links to other sources of information on volcanoes.

This is a fantastic clickable map with the major plates, and the locations of our Top Trumps Volcanoes with all their vital stats ready to display. Thanks to them!
Volcano-related activities from Oxford Sparks.
In collaboration with Oxford Sparks, and their Teachers’ panel, we have developed a number of activities relating to plate tectonics, volcanoes and geology for Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5. You can find these activities, along with teachers’ notes, both on the Oxford Sparks website, and on the TES website (you’ll need to register, and log in).
These are a set of posters and information leaflets that describe different sorts of volcanic activity, and their hazards, and that provide some more background about several of the Volcano Top Trump volcanoes, including Kilauea (Hawaii), Krakatoa (Indonesia), Soufriere Hills (Montserrat) and Vesuvius (Italy). These resources were developed by a research student, Jeannie Scott, and are all available from the TES website (log in required).
